If you have gone for an excursion outside Florence or just want to go eat something around Tuscany (without going to far) here is the list of my favorite restaurants on the outskirts of the city.
I know of restaurants in every direction, whether it is towards the South, if you are making an excursion to the Chianti region, or in Mugello, another beautiful area to visit or towards Fiesole from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Florence.
As usual, for each local you will find the information on how to get there, a short description of the place and where possible, the link to the website.
La Martellina

But where is it? Just outside Florence, in the South area, on the legendary Tuscan oil and wine route that leads to Siena.
Description: The inside of the restaurant is warm and welcoming but I advise you to go there during the summer, when you can eat on the terrace, with a splendid view of the Chianti hills.
Among the starters, you must definitely try the ficattole with the "squaquerone" (a creamy cheese, "squaquero" in florentine) and salamis since they are all local products, the must-haves " are the "sbriciolona and boar sausage but other excellent choices are the meatballs, simmered in tomato sauce or a nice appetizer of ravioli “alla senese” with sausage and walnuts.
And then surrender to an entrée of meat, perhaps prepared with a beautiful porcino cap or even truffles, can’t you smell the aroma?

But where is it? About 30 minutes by car from the Centre of Florence, where you can visit the archaeological sites with the Etruscan tombs, the works of Pontormo, the beautiful Medici villas or the Wine Museum in nearby Carmignano.
Description: “… life is made of small pleasures and knowing how to enjoy them is an art that makes happiness …" for many years, this has been the owners philosophy that can be appreciated by the guests of the restaurant, yes I said guests and not customers because who sits at the tables of La Giunca is always a special guest, to which, day after day is given to taste the best of the chef's culinary research.
I have known La Giunca for many years, I went there as a child together with my parents, before he moved to his present location, and I assure you that you can also find exquisite fish entrées, and if you simply want a pizza, try it, you will not be disappointed.

But where is it? In this area, north of Florence, you can go for excursions or for walks in the park, but I assure you that the innkeeper Carlo deserves your visit, no reason needed!
Description: Carlo is a real, old-fashioned innkeeper rarely found today, who welcomes you with all his exuberant personality (sometimes even too much!) and the warmth that sets him apart; the restaurant is located on Lake Baldracca (meaning a woman of easy virtue in Florentine!) and offers traditional Tuscan recipes made with “good” products and prepared simply and naturally, as we did once.
It’s not easy to recommend a dish over another as Carlo is really good in the kitchen and in any case he’ll do as he pleases if you ask him to recommend a dish! However, rest assured you will not regret having gone there, and if he likes you it’s not unusual for him to un-tap another bottle of red and sit down with you to toast his new friends, Carlo is a legend! Or to use his own words "… innkeeper for need and vocation, freethinker, gourmet and dandy! ..."

But where is it? The Fiesole Hill is right next to Florence, it is a wonderful place to visit, especially in summer, where maybe in the evening, sitting on the terrace, you are enjoying the evening breeze while marveling at one of the most beautiful panoramas of the City of the Lily.
Description: Although the restaurant is open all year I advise you to go there in summer for the reason I mentioned above, the rooftop terrace offers the ideal backdrop to your dinner; the menus are different depending on the season, but obviously, as a rule, you can always find our traditional dishes. To absolutely try are the “pappa al pomodoro” and the “cannelloni alla fiorentina”. It also carries a very well stocked wine cellar with more than 100 labels, mainly of Tuscany.
If my advice is not enough, the Michelin Guide defines it as an "extraordinary cuisine that is worth not losing".
