Description: since 1872 it has been offering typical Tuscan cuisine, ideal for trying a great Tuscan soup or a juicy steak of Chianina meat. Everything comes with a Chianti classic chosen from the best Italian labels. Celestino is located inside the ‘Torre degli Ubriachi’ about 30 meters from ‘Ponte Vecchio’ and very close to the Santa Felicita church, famous for its Pontormo operas (you absolutely have to see ‘La Deposizione’), one of the most striking corners in Florence. If it’s cold, you will have your dinner by candlelight, but if it’s summer you can enjoy your food in the delightful garden right on the square. It offers simple and genuine food for the rediscovery of the pleasure of dining.

Description: the restaurant has a superb cuisine and we can confidently define it as a sure and worthy rival to the most (probably) renowned Enoteca Pinchiorri. Don’t miss the ‘orecchiette’ with saffron and the ‘maltagliati’ with hare ragout, the main courses both of meat and fish, modern interpretations of the traditional cuisine made by the young chef. A beautiful 18th century ambience, the service is impeccable and discreet and the prices are certainly more than acceptable for a restaurant of this class.

Description: it was way back in time, in 1898 when Angelo Latini founded this restaurant as a wine and grocery shop and it was the count Bernardo Rucellai who suggested its current role as a restaurant. The restaurant is wrapped in the characteristic sober Tuscan eating house atmosphere, with its wooden furniture, the wine display racks and the view of encased cold cuts and of hams that are hanging from the ceiling. It was seriously damaged by the flood in 1966, but on that occasion the owner of ‘Latini’ rolled up his sleeves and was the first one to serve the Florentines hot food, on a road that still was covered in mud. If you are in Florence in May, you have to go to ‘Latini’, on the first Saturday of the month. The restaurant is central to the now well known literary award, “Il Latini” which takes place every year on the first Saturday in May. Regarding the cuisine, don’t miss the grilled fillet with pumpkin flowers, the Tuscan soup and soups in general and the ‘fiasco’ cannellini.

Description: “ogni dolore è dolore ma senza la tavola è maggiore” (every sorrow is a sorrow but without eating it’s greater). This is the slogan of the Toscano. The restaurant was founded directly opposite an old Tuscan cigar factory, the most famous in the world and from here, the restaurant get’s it name. Inside you can find a myriad of reproduction photographs of the era. We are in the Tuscan tradition from the beginning to the end. The rustic style attract many tourists, but it interest us more to say that it’s very sought-after by the “Tuscans” like us, who are passionate for a rustic and simple cuisine.

Description: a great restaurant with moderate prices, and a menu offering different meat and fish dishes, but we recommend the mixed boiled meat and the spelt soup; on this small street close to the most elegant streets of the city (via Tornabuoni, Via della Vigna Nuova and Via Strozzi) you will find the atmosphere of an authentic eating house in a beautiful environment. If it’s possible for your lunch choose the room with the vaulted ceiling and exposed brickwork. At Marione you will find good food, simplicity and happiness and perhaps also a character from the world of Florentine showbiz. Can you ask for more? Absolutely one of my favourite Florence restaurants!

Description: the chef Barbara Zattoni revisits with passion the Italian cuisine: balance and creativity are present in all dishes and excellent wines are available. The atmosphere is calm and elegant. It’s located on the delightful square, on the other side of the Arno, and takes its name from the nearby theater. The prices are relatively high but in proportion with the great quality.
